311 and Dirty Heads have joined forces for a co-headlining summer tour, along with support from Bikini Trill, Dreamers, and The interrupters. On July 5th the bands made a stop at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI.
First up was Los Angeles-based Bikini Trill (a fairly new act) who brought their powerful surfer pop blend of electronica and hip-hop, This was actually my first time listening to the band, and I can say I’m hooked. They made a fantastic first impression on me and I’m eager to see what’s next form them.
Next up were Dreamers who are always entertaining and great at working the crowd. The band is currently supporting their latest album “Launch Fly Land,” which was released in April of this year. It was awesome to finally get to hear some of the new material in a live setting. Though sadly, folks in Mt Pleasant missed out on that experience as the band was unable to perform due to a venue change. Hopefully they’ll be making a return in the not so distant future.
Speaking of working the crowd, ska act The Interrupters took to the stage to give a memorable performance. They’ve always been one of those acts puts in 110 percent with every show, no matter where they’re playing. Aimee Is one of the most unique and entertaining vocalists in punk rock with a ton of charisma. Her stage presence is second to none. With so much positivity and energy, an Interrupters show is one that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and your feet off the ground.
Finally it was time for The co-main event, with 311 and Dirty Heads . 311s new album Voyager, is actually out today (July 13th) while Dirty Heads will be releasing their latest studio effort “Super Moon” on August 9, 2019.
Overall it was an amazing night with some new discoveries, some old favorites, and a little taste of things to come from the headliners. The tour will continue all the way through late summer where it will be wrapping up on August 20 at the USANA Amphitheatre.
