Canadian folk icon Alan Doyle is ready to embark on the second leg of his North American tour, kicking off today, April 24th, at The Event Gallery at Bethel Woods in Bethel, NY. Doyle’s return to the stage is sure to be a highlight for many of his fans here in the US, as they will be able to catch his amazing work live. And to celebrate, we’re thrilled to bring you a special treat – an exclusive look at his live performance of his song “Hard Old Hands.”
This little sneak peak is what you can expect from him on stage with his heartfelt delivery on songs such as this. You can list and pick up the new album, “Welcome Home” at this link.
Alan has an impressive discography spanning 20 studio albums. This track, originally released on his sixth solo record in early February, takes on a new dimension in this stripped-down live version. His delivery in this stripped down version of the track, fills the song with warmth and the wisdom of lived experiences.
And his with his own hands, he tells the tale with every strum of the guitar which feels imbued with a lifetime of these stories, creating a powerful, emotional connection with his fans.
Alan comments on the track by saying:
This song is really personal. It follows advice my Mom gave me long ago. Spend exactly no time wishing the gifts you were given were bigger and better. Spend exactly all your time making the most of the gifts you got. Be grateful for them and they just might take you further than you ever thought possible.
At its core, the beauty of “Hard Old Hands” lies in its celebration of an enduring spirit. Whether these hands belong to a laborer, a parent, or someone who has simply battled through the ups and downs of existence, there’s a deep respect for their capability. These hands have the gentleness to soothe and comfort, guiding someone home and offering peace. Yet, they also hold the resolute spirit of someone who, despite life’s challenges, as Alan says “I’ll be damned, we’ll keep doing the best we can.
This tour celebrates Alan’s latest album, “Welcome Home,” where we see the singer-songwriter and 14-time JUNO Award nominee explore new territories with his music. Collaborating with heavyweights like Jimmy Rankin, Donovan Woods, and Oscar Isaac, Doyle crafted nine original songs in Montreal alongside renowned producer-engineer Marcus Paquin. This is a great opportunity to experience some of those songs brought to life on stage.
And you can catch him along with the Beautiful Beautiful Band, kicking things off today. The tour will snake its way across North America, making stops in major cities like Boston and Atlanta, before culminating in a grand finale on May 18th at the Center For The Arts in Homer, NY. Joining Alan for will be special guest Adam Baldwin. You can check out a full list of dates below.
