Alternating between punk, pop, and spicy rock n’ roll, Bad Mary consistently delivers unapologetic riffs, pounding drums, powerful vocals, and the ability to capture the essence of multiple genres while injecting them with their own unique flavor. Their new video for the rebellious and edgy “I Just Called To Say **** You” is out now. See it here.
“A riot of low-slung guitar-driven rock and roll. An explosion of swagger and groove. A battle between pop infectiousness, rock muscle, and punk attitude” — The Big Takeover
“I Just Called To Say **** You” is an attitude infused anthem to moving on while acknowledging the red flags that were ignored in the midst of the relationship. Guitarist David Henderson explains, “The song was inspired by an actual break-up I went through… well I was the cause of it. I was the one that the “**** you” was aimed at, and I totally deserved it. The breakup was messy and hurtful and a few months after we had split, she called me and asked me to go out for coffee, so I said sure. We met, got our coffee, sat down, and she just said, “I just need to say, **** You.” And then she left”.
About the video singer Amanda Mac shares,
“It was a wild day. David and I were constantly keeping track of the weather because it was supposed to rain all day and we had no idea if we were going to be able to shoot it. But our schedules made it so that was THE DAY! We got lucky with the weather and David had found this field to shoot it in near his house. I covered myself and everything I own in bug spray and spun around this field all afternoon, like Maria from The Sound of Music, and did a bunch of cartwheels! And… I only fell down once!”
New York-based Bad Mary is vocalist Amanda Mac, with Mike Staub on bass, Bill Mac on drums, and David Henderson on guitar.
They started off the summer with a successful tour run in Japan and are looking forward to US shows, with a September date at New York’s Amityville Music Hall with the Dollyrots and Tsunami Bomb.
