Miracle of Sound returned to the live stage after a decade-long wait, delivering an amazing performance at a sold-out kickoff show at Dublin’s Academy. The event follows the 2024 release of his first physical collection through Napalm Records, which was a really awesome milestone that had already sparked a ton of excitement among longtime fans. Attendees, including a couple who traveled all the way from Tokyo, gathered to check out to see what, really you could say is the first MoS live experience.
Gavin Dunne, isn’t exactly a stranger to the stage, as he entered the evening with a relaxed demeanor and a few jokes about his pre-show jitters. It was just a really cool way to set a comfortable tone. Once the performance began, the stage transformed as Gavin and his band delivered a series of well-rehearsed and polished tracks. The audience played an active role throughout the performance, enthusiastically singing along to the lyrics and responding with some pretty intense energy.
The Dublin show marks a significant moment in Miracle of Sound’s ongoing career, a return to live performance that many had looked forward to for such a long time. The way that this show went down, you would think he had been performing on stage touring endlessly for years. Regardless of whether the long break stemmed from a lack of interest in touring, Gavin showed that the stage remains a place where artistry and passion unite, creating an experience that seemed as fulfilling for him as it was for the fans.
Something else that I feel, I have to mention, was the merch table. Wow. The scene there, I do have to say, was pretty wild. The line snaked around like crazy, and it’s easy to see why. His merch is just awesome.
Looking ahead, the tour is set to continue on March 7 in Belfast, followed by stops in Glasgow, Manchester, Berlin, and Stockholm, among other European cities, and culminating in Paris on May 20. And it’s a pretty good bet that each upcoming show is likely to build on the momentum generated in Dublin, offering people who’ve been eager to see him on a stage for so long, a night they won’t forget.
