It doesn’t happen often that you get to see two of the most well-known classic power metal bands in the same evening, But there I was in Rockhal, Luxembourg.
First up were Hammerfall. With a set full of classics such as Any Means Necessary, Blood Bound, Last Man Standing and (obviously) Let The Hammer Fall, finishing off with Hearts on Fire, it was amazing to see them live.
Props to the team for changing the scenery so quickly and so completely. It’s not every day that you have to install a giant 20ft pumpkin on a stage, I would guess.
Helloween always bust out the flashier props. Giant pumpkin? Check. Giant screen with B-series alien movies playing in the background? Check. Three singers? Check.
Kicking the concert off with the massive Skyfall, then moving to classics such as Eagle Fly Free, Future World or Ride the Sky, the band knows their audience likes a good ballad from time to time. And what better ballad that Forever and One? If you can listen to it without crying, you’re made of a different stuff. And of course the encores are the perfect occasion to bring back those long classics from long ago such as Keeper of the Seven Keys… and obviously I Want Out. You knew it just had to be there.
