Legendary punk Celtic punk act Flogging Molly, as well as the legendary Violent Femmes kicked off their co-headlining tour earlier this month with special guests, Me First And The Gimme Gimmes, and Thick. The tour came to some familiar stomping grounds for Flogging Molly, as they played a show at the Masonic Temple, Detroit, MI.
Flogging Molly is a band that is notorious for putting on an incredible live show, and earlier this year, we spoke to Dave King, who told us about how eager he was to get back on the road, and only what it was like only do live streams. Dave commented:
In the sense that the atmosphere of a live show will never be recreated in digital form or wherever you want to call it. It will never add up to that. I just hope that sooner rather than later, we can all get together and play live music together with the crowd because the crowd makes the show.
And when talking about the current tour, Dave says:
“What a joy it is to announce our co-headline tour this coming September/October 2021 with the legendary Violent Femmes. We in the Flogging Molly family cannot wait to share the stage with such an amazing group, so please join us in celebrating the return of what we’ve all truly missed: the live music experience. We cannot wait to see you all! So take care dear friends, till we raise a glass to one and all, Slainté! Flogging Molly.”
Violent Femmes’ Brian Ritchie adds:
“Can’t be hermits forever. Violent Femmes re-enter the big, bad world they sing about. We are happy to crawl out of our hole just in time to celebrate 40 years as a band.”
Flogging Molly will soon be partnering up with Sixthman for the Salty Dog Cruise, which is set to take place between March 28 – April 1, 2022 and Violent Femmes are celebrating the 40th anniversary together this year, with a re-issue of ‘Add It Up’ (1981-1993).
Tickets for the remaining dates for the Flogging Molly and Violent Femmes co-headline tour are up now and can be purchased via both of the bands official websites.
