It’s been a few years since we’ve been able to catch Epica live again, which is a bit sad as this is a band we’ve always followed quite closely, as they are known for putting on amazing live shows. In fact, our last coverage of them was from their very first show in Ireland a few years ago. Though due to scheduling conflicts, and the pandemic, and a few tour postponements, we’ve now finally got to see them yet again, back in the early fall.
It’s a show we’ve been excited about checking out, as we’ve wanted to hear the new material. Last year, their album “Ωmega” scored a perfect 10 out of 10 from us and was Folk N Metals choice for album of the year. They also released an amazing live DVD since then, and we’ve wanted to hear it in a live setting for ourselves even more. The band made their way back to the states with Sabaton, and on October 10th in Detroit, we got to see some of it, and it was amazing.
The Dutch symphonic metal act also has announced something new in the form of, ‘The Alchemy Project’, which will release on November 11th via Atomic Fire Records. It’s another great way for the band to celebrate their 20th year, as the seven song project features tracks that were co-written and performed with renowned guest musicians.
