With a hazy-garage, rock reverb, L.A. Witch sounds almost vintage. Through the melodic haze, this Los Angeles indie rock band is driven by a trio of legit rock chicks.
A minute in and you’re hooked. The mesmerizing vocals of Sade Sanchez, she kills it on the guitar, too. Irita Pai smoothly dances her fingers on the bass. She’s so relaxed and at home on stage. Steady rhythmic pounding on the drums by Ellie English, she doesn’t miss a beat, and her drumsticks post-show prove she’s force to be reckoned with.
The girls are pros and class acts, too. Last time they were in town, they played at Jack White’s Third Man Records in Cass Corridor.
A speaker blew out the ear piece on them. Professional and composed, the girls finished their set graciously. This minted their status as legit and attained them a Detroit following.
On their fourth trip to Detroit, they’ve come equipped with a full-length album. This time around at The Loving Touch, a small venue in the suburbs, they mingle politely with locals and followers since their debut when L.A. Witch opened for The Kills at Saint Andrews a few years ago.
No sound issues arose and they crushed their entire set, introducing two news songs playing to eclectic crowd. Begging for more, the crowd was treated with a few more songs before the ladies were whisked away to another city on their US summer tour.
Catch them at an intimate venue while you can, because these girls are driving in the fast lane and are sure to blow up soon.
