For years now, Chvrches have been a bucket list band for me to catch live and shoot. The band is well-known for being highly energetic and putting on an excellent show. Recently, they took the Screen Violence tour to the Royal Oak Music Theatre in Detroit, where I was able to capture them. As a result, I witnessed not only one of the best live shows of the year but also one of the most memorable in the infinite number of shows I’ve attended.
The band doesn’t depend on electronics giving you a studio experience in a live setting, especially with their newer material from their latest album, ‘Screen Violence’. Chvrches have also been able to adapt this more contemporary take on some of the older material, which breaths new life into fan favorites.
And the end of the night, Lauren Mayberry transformed into the red-painted symbolic bloodsoaked final girl, giving off a metal-infused visual in a Synth-pop rock show, and was a great end to an amazing night.
The band still has a few more dates to play out, where they will be wrapping up at the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California, just before Christmas on December 18. For those of you who have the opportunity to catch them in these uncertain times, this was one of the best shows of the year for me and one I urge you not to miss out on seeing them.
