“Let it Go” is a track from the 2013 Disney blockbuster film, Frozen, which has grossed over $1 billion worldwide. The films’ immense popularity has spawned everything from skateboards to breakfast cereal to “Elsa” becoming the most popular baby name for a newborn girl in over a century. “Let it Go” is perhaps what the film is most well-known for, even if you’ve never seen the movie or have any idea who the characters are.
Naturally, there have been a few hundred million covers of the track, done by everything from a dozen floppy disk drives to an Otamatone. Of course, we certainly have a bit left in the cold out with many metal and rock covers of the track. While there have been many awesome covers, they do seem to be a dime a dozen? So what or who could make us care about yet another? Floor Jansen.
Floor is one of the most outstanding vocalists in rock and metal, whose talents and presence expand far beyond those two genres. So when the Nightwish vocalist sings anything, people listen. Floor Recently hit a milestone on her YouTube channel by surpassing over 100,000 subscribers. The video Has reached nearly half a million views over the course of only several days. She comments about covering the song by saying:
“Freja has been listening to, and singing Let It Go from the Disney movie, Frozen, for months. For fun and also because I miss performing for you, I decided to cover Let It Go from Frozen for all of you! Let It Go has been stuck in my head for months, so now it’s your turn.”
The band, The Fouxes, added a rock and metal twist to the song’s instrumentation.
