About “Moon Eyes” Russell says it’s “A personal view of a year, split up in seasons. A song about space and time. How we often let time run away, and how difficult it is to catch”.
Elsewhere on Art By You is the song “Down,” is “a frustrated and raw song illustrating politics and oppression. It also touches on hierarchies, weapon laws, the patriarchy, and xenophobia,” says Russell. “What You Wrote” “is about trying to move on from a darkness that whispers lies to you, about letting go of a false safety and remembering that there is a place somewhere out there where you will feel better” he explains. Lastly on the EP is the song “The Boxer,” a live acoustic, naked interpretation of the Simon & Garfunkel classic.
With roots in both England and Sweden, Russell was born and raised in Härnösand, north Sweden, where he first discovered music and a fascination for art at an early age. He paved the way for his early global success using TikTok as a way to connect with like-minded people and listeners and has garnered over 30 million views, and almost 50k followers.
