Power metal icons Sabaton have released their latest EP, “Heroes of the Great War EP Digipak”, on January 20, 2023, paying tribute to some of the bravest and most notable heroes of World War I. The EP is a collection of songs about people whose stories the band believes need to be heard and not forgotten.

The EP is available in limited numbers and features a brand new single, “The First Soldier”, which tells the story of France’s Albert Severin Roche, who became known as “The First Soldier” of France for his heroism and bravery during WW1. Despite his small stature and his peers’ scepticism, by the end of the war, Albert had captured over 1,180 prisoners while fighting for the French Army.

The band has a long history of using their music to pay tribute to historical figures and events, and this EP is no exception. Each song on the EP tells the story of a different hero from the Great War, bringing to light the sacrifices and bravery of those who fought. The EP is not only a tribute to the heroes of the past but also a reminder of the sacrifices made during the war and the importance of remembering and honoring those who fought.

Sabaton’s signature power metal sound is prominent throughout the EP, with heavy guitar riffs and powerful vocals that perfectly capture the spirit of the heroes they are singing about. The band’s passion for history shines through in the lyrics, making each song both an ode to the past and a powerful anthem for the present.

The band’s new single “The First Soldier” is a moving tribute to Albert Severin Roche and his heroism. The song tells the story of his journey from being a small man with big dreams to becoming one of the most decorated soldiers in the French army. The powerful lyrics and driving instrumentals perfectly capture the spirit of Roche’s determination and bravery.
