Indie-pop project dayaway, consisting of Amber Renee from CLAVVS and Grammy-winning producer Graham Marsh, is set to make waves with the release of their new single and music video titled “I Wish” on May 17th. I wish’ is about being down bad for someone you can’t have. It’s super playful, but it’s also an angry fist-shake to the sky kind of song. You’re mad at yourself and you’re mad at the person you’ve fallen for and you’re mad at the circumstances. Most of the time, you can’t control who you love or when, so this song tackles the frustration of that experience.
We made the video with that energy in mind. It’s part playful, part totally annoyed. We shot all around Queens, from Flushing Meadows Park to Jacob Riis Beach.
Last year, dayaway introduced themselves to the music scene with their self-titled debut EP, which garnered attention with singles such as “Cool Water.” The track not only received extensive streaming success, amassing over 5 million streams across various platforms, but it was also featured on ABC’s “A Million Little Things” and included in popular playlists on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
