“Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhaoibh
We at Folk N Rock have curated a playlist of some of our favorite Celtic Punk artists that we’ve covered throughout the years. Celtic punk has always been one of our favorite subgenres of folk rock, and this year we decided to go big with a few announcements along with the playlist.
But first, you’ll find the playlist on Spotify featuring 80 songs from numerous artists, and almost 5 hours of playtime, that’s sure to get you through this Paddy’s day. Obviously, we’ve missed some influential artists on this list, which is why we will be adding to it weekly.
Consider this the official Folk N Rock Celtic Punk playlist as well. The reason being, at some point, you’re going to see the other Celtic nations creep in such as The Real Mackenzies and many more. We would also love to hear your thoughts and feedback on what tracks or artists you think we should add to the list.
Irish Punk Returns
Be it Irishpunk.com, CelticPunk.com, or what would become the more permanent home at punk.ie, we are are returning to Folk N Rocks Celtic roots. Our superhero origin story if you will. Back in the early days, we specifically provided coverage of only Celtic fusion bands. Along with some of the other greats that did such coverage, such as both Johns, Phil of Paddy Rock, Waldo, and Söen of course. That has changed as we have expanded, but given we also have a sister site that is Folk N Metal, we thought we would bring back what slowly faded away.
Punk.ie will be returning as a sister site to Folk N Rock. So what exactly is changing? Nothing much really. Just that the new URL will give you direct coverage to punk, Celtic Folk, and Celtic punk bands, to act as a filter for the site. Also, Punk.ie will be given its own end-of-the-year list featuring the top Celtic punk albums, and various other categories.
And of course, you know this means new merch. Which will be arriving next week.
