Closing out the year and rolling into 2021, Canadian symphonic death metal act Gone in April have released a brand-new lyric video for their track, “Power to Heal.”
The song is from the band’s 2019 album, ‘Shards of Light’ which was released shortly before the band kicked off a North American tour with folk metal acts Eluveitie and Korpiklaani. Folk N Metal also chose “Shards of Light” as one of the “best releases of 2019′.
‘Power to Heal’ is one of the more hard-hitting songs from the album with technical guitar and bass riffs, coupled with dynamic drumming and classic melodies. The video takes the viewer inside various hospitals’ walls, from old makeshift war hospitals to today’s more modern facilities. Drummer Yanic Bercier Spoke a little bit about the track by saying:
Many of us in the band have either worked in healthcare or have close family that do. In Power to Heal, we put ourselves in the shoes of a physician, experiencing both the victories and the struggles attached to the profession.
Every day, we witness the dedication of the healthcare workers, their courage, their sacrifice, and the battles they have to face. 2020 has tested us all, but it has been especially hard on them. We wish to take this opportunity to thank all the healthcare workers who continue to produce miracles and who give so much of themselves on a daily basis.
The video was created by videographer Wayne Joyner who has worked with bands such as Mayan, Dream Theater, and Ayreon. Gone in April, musicians are now working on composition for their 4th studio album.
