Exit Eden, the symphonic metal alliance featuring Clémentine Delauney of Visions of Atlantis, Anna Brunner from League of Distortion, and Marina La Torraca of Phantom Elite, is making a grand return to the music scene. Their second studio album, aptly named ‘Femmes Fatales,’ is set to drop on January 12, 2024, courtesy of Napalm Records.

Their latest work is a multi-layered anthology that combines the band’s own creations with fresh takes on some global chart-toppers. What really amplifies this album’s essence is its underlying theme of the “femme fatale.” Exit Eden uses this symbolic figure to evoke a sense of female agency—depicting women as architects of their own stories, replete with intellect, self-reliance, and individuality. In essence, the album aims to invigorate the world with a surge of feminine vitality.

If you recall, the trio’s debut album, ‘Rhapsodies in Black,’ launched back in 2017 and did nothing short of making a splash. It clinched the 15th spot on the German album charts and racked up millions of views for its official music videos. Now, they’re back with an all-new single, “Run!” to whet your appetite for the upcoming album. Notably, this initial track, penned by Anna Brunner and Hannes Braun of Kissin’ Dynamite, diverges a bit from their traditional style, adding a folk-inspired flair to their symphonic metal roots.

What’s more, the song features a special contribution from the singular Marko Hietala, formerly of Nightwish. His unique vocal talents infuse the track with an extra layer of depth. Accompanying this compelling song is a top-notch official video.

Building on the formula that worked wonders for them previously, Exit Eden’s forthcoming album, ‘Femmes Fatales,’ strikes a balanced chord between the old and the new. The full-length album features a dozen tracks, half of which pay homage to timeless hits by transforming them through the band’s unique lens.

While their first album leaned heavily on interpretations of existing hits, this time around the trio is flexing its songwriting muscles. Of the six original songs, all but one, titled “Dying in My Dreams,” were penned by the collaborative efforts of Anna Brunner and Hannes Braun from Kissin’ Dynamite. Interestingly, Hannes Braun didn’t just contribute his songwriting talents; he also took on the roles of recording engineer, producer, and mixer for this project.

When it comes to mastering, the band enlisted the expertise of Jacob Hansen, a name that’s no stranger to the metal scene. Having worked with illustrious acts like Delain, Amaranthe, Volbeat, and Destruction, among others, Hansen’s touch is likely to elevate ‘Femmes Fatales’ to new auditory heights.
