Alternative / Americana singer-songwriter Katie Toupin, released her highly praised debut solo album, “Magnetic Moves,” on June 14th via Symphonic Distribution. This was Katie’s first release since her departure from Houndmouth in 2016.
In support the release, Katie kicked off an early summer tour, traveling through major cities across the country, including Los Angeles, Dallas, and Nashville. Joining Katie on tour as support, was Edmonton-based acoustic folk singer Havelin.
Havelin is an up-and-coming and incredibly talented songwriter who also had a release of his own on June 14th which was his latest single, “Me Without You.” Katie took notice to Havelins skills and promise, and was thrilled to have him along for the ten date string a shows.
Recently, the two sat down to record an acoustic version of The Rolling Stones classic, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” Which appropriately, was also a summer release. (Back in the the Summer of 69 to be exact) And today we’re happy to bring you the exclusive premiere of their cover.
The two also spoke a little bit about their touring, as well as the track by saying:
It was really fun to tour with Havelin! The timbre in his voice emoted so much heart, I felt inspired to sit down and sing a song with him. The song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” had been dancing around in my head for the past couple of weeks and I thought it felt like such a sincere version to do it stripped down acoustic. I believe Havelin has only just begun. I feel really thankful to have been a part of his journey and I’m even more thankful we were able to capture this little moment in time on video. Katie Toupin
Touring with Katie Toupin was an absolute blast. I can’t overstate how awesome her and her team are. It was an incredible experience being on the road with them – and seeing most of the United States in under a month was pretty freakin’ cool too Havelin
