We’re happy to share some news about one of our favorite folk metal acts, Feuerschwanz. They have not only dropped an absolute banger of a new track and unveiled their upcoming album, Knighclub, but they’re also in the running to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest. This opportunity isn’t just reserved for the German public anymore, as fans from the States and even our neighbors in Canada, and across the globe now have a chance to weigh in and support the band.
A New Twist on Eurovision Chefsache
Traditionally, Germany’s national final—Eurovision Chefsache, has been an internal competition where only German viewers could cast their votes. This year, however, the rules have changed in a way that’s never been seen before. With this awesome change, international fans like us are invited to participate in the voting process. We think it’s a fantastic opportunity to back a band that adds a great touch to the Eurovision stage. Feuerschwanz, having risen above a pool of over 3,000 applicants, impressed an expert panel, including German TV legend Stefan Raab, and captured the attention of more than two million viewers during the competition.
How To Show Your Support
This Saturday, March 1, the final preliminary round kicks off at 8:15 CET. The show will be streamed live worldwide at eurovision.tv. At the end of the broadcast, you’ll have the opportunity to cast your vote via online voting, SMS, or phone. This is our moment to raise our banners and let our voices soar like war horns in an ancient arena, where a time honored German tradition transforms into a medieval contest of valor for Eurovision honor. In the grand finale on Germany’s ARD channel, the jury will narrow the field down to a few acts. From that point, it will be up to us, the audience, to decide who will represent Germany.
A Chance for Metal Representation
Let’s not forget that Lena Meyer-Landrut once carried the torch for Germany, clinching a win in 2010 with her hit “Satellite” with Germany’s second win since 1982. Now, the metal community has a unique opportunity to see our genre take center stage at Eurovision. We can’t imagine a better way to support our love for folk metal than to rally behind Feuerschwanz.
So, spread the word far and wide. Whether you’re a full-blooded metal head or just someone who appreciates a good, energetic music, make sure to cast your vote this Saturday. This is our chance to have a real impact on the Eurovision stage and to bring a bit of our folk metal flavor to an event that’s getting a major international makeover.
Again, the kick off is at 8:15 CET, and you can place your vote at eurovision.tv
