Edge of Paradise has been a favorite of ours for years, taking us right into space with their larger than life heavy sound and futuristic aesthetic. They’ve been building a ton of momentum, and it all ramped up when they joined forces with Napalm Records, which took shape not long after their tour with DragonForce. Now, we’re just days away from the release of their new album, Prophecy, and if you’ve been following the band, you know this is an album in which the story is very relevant to what’s currently going on today.
Like their previous albums, Prophecy continues the conceptual thread connecting to the unknown and The Singularity, but this time, the themes feel even more real. Edge of Paradise has been exploring these ideas for years, touching on artificial intelligence, the future of humanity, and the merging of technology with how we simple folk live our day-to-day lives. These almost no longer feel like abstract sci-fi concepts anymore, they’re starting to feel like a reality unfolding in real time.
I recently caught up with frontwoman Margarita Monet to talk about everything that went into this new album and the road that led them here. We discussed the writing process, how the band approached crafting this next chapter, and of course, how artificial intelligence is changing not just the world, but the music industry itself. It’s a subject that’s becoming impossible to ignore, and Monet had some thoughts on where things might be headed.
We also got into tour talk, as Edge of Paradise is about to hit the road alongside labelmates Xandria and Delain for a North American run. It’s a super stacked lineup, and with Prophecy about to drop, the timing couldn’t be better.
