Where is she now? Well, everywhere! I recently had the honor of catching up with Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, Lisa Loeb. Lisa is a multi-talented and creative individual who has been busy with various projects in 2023. She has been making music, hosting a radio show, writing songs for a children’s animation, and more. But what does 2024 hold for her? Well, one of the exciting things she is working on is a collaboration with a family-friendly folk outfit band, the Hollow Trees.

Lisa and the Hollow Trees are teaming up to release an album called, ‘That’s What It’s All About’, which features some covers of old-timey classics and more. Late last year, they put out their first single, ‘If I Knew You Were Comin’ I’d’ve Baked a Cake’, a song that was published in 1950. Lisa says that the album is a tribute to the music that influenced her as a kid, such as playing music with her dad and going to visit her grandparents as a child, the songs are timeless, and she goes into how exciting it is to pass song downs from generation, to generation.

Lisa also shares with me her experience of hosting a radio show on SiriusXM, called Where Are They Now. The show is a dream come true for any millennial seeking nostalgia, as Lisa interviews and speaks to the performers that shaped our childhood and young adulthood and finds out what they have been up to recently. She says that she loves reconnecting with old friends and discovering new things about them.

Speaking of nostalgia, Lisa also tells me about her involvement in writing a series of songs for a children’s animation for Barbie, with Kyler England.  She goes on to says that she enjoys writing songs for kids, and of course it allows her to express her playful and imaginative side. She also says about how much she loves working with Kyler.

And of course, Lisa leaves me with a few teasers as she briefly mentions that 2024 will be the 30th anniversary of her breakout hit, ‘Stay (I Missed You)’. She says that she plans to do something big for this occasion, but she does not reveal any details yet. This iconic track, of course, is one that means a lot to many people, including myself. It also has a fascinating history behind it, as it made Lisa the first artist to ever go to #1 without a record deal. It also has a memorable music video, directed by Ethan Hawke, and it was featured on the soundtrack of the cult classic film, Reality Bites.

Lisa Loeb is a remarkable artist who has a lot to offer to her fans and the creative world. She is not only a singer-songwriter, but also a radio host, a children’s author, an eyewear designer, and more. It was great to get to speak with her about her upcoming projects, and to hear about whats coming soon with The Hollow trees.

Be sure to follow and subscribe to Lisa’s YouTube channel, and be sure to keep checking back on more updates with her and The Hollow Trees. 2023 was a big and busy year for her, and 2024 looks to be even bigger.
