Taking a look at Clint Maedgen’s space is fun and eccentric. It has an almost childlike sense of chaos and feels like an explosion of wonder and life. There are many pictures on the walls, lamps that cast interesting shadows, and many puppets and toys.
Clint Maedgen is a fine-art photographer, filmmaker, textile artist, and multi-instrumentalist. Although he majors in voice, he also plays the saxophone, harmonica, guitar, and clarinet. Clint started his music career as an instrumentalist for the band Liquidrone.
Liquidrone was a band that started out playing alternative theatre performances. As the group progressed, their sound became something eclectic, a mix of orchestra, blues, jazz, and rock. Their songs include Filthy Cartoon and Climbing Up The Skirts of Morning.
Following his time with Liquidrone, he was the lead for The New Orleans Bingo! Show, an act that combined musical theater with the edge-of-your-seat interaction of game shows and audience participation. The New Orleans Bingo! Show is a head-bopping musical and film experiment. After touring with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the concert has become a mainstay of the New Orleans nightlife scene.
Although his music career was a relatively stable one in 2020, the pandemic forced Clint to evaluate some aspects of his career. He started the Patreon Panda Family. Clint leaned on his photography and textile skills to fundraise for this venture and sold his French Quarter Doorbell pillows. These pillows had photos of different doorbells that Clint had taken in the 90s using his classic Lomo Camera.
On Clint’s Patreon page, his followers can subscribe to any of his four packages. Depending on the package chosen, Clint’s listeners get an opportunity to interact with him. The perks include private online live shows, individual zoom sessions, personalized songs, personalized playlists, and a photo shoot when a follower visits New Orleans.
Among the songs to be born from his endeavor to curate a more personal experience for his followers are “Sandra Already Knows” and “ELI and The Sugar Static,” which will follow suit in October.
Clint Maedgen is fresh air in the wave of more impersonal digital content and music. It remains clear that he would want nothing more than to have his followers experience his art in its purest form.
