Three Sheets TWind Biography:

Formed in 2005 from the Bitter soaked streets of Pontefract, West Yorkshire are Three Sheets T’ Wind, playing a well oiled set of original and traditional material with reckless abandon.

This tight 5-piece orchestra have stuck to the core principles they set out from the early days, creating Punk influenced Folk music or Folk influenced Punk music, whichever way you fancy.

Since their first release ‘Songs From the Dole Queue E.P’ in 2007, a set of well observed songs on modern working class life with a helpful little dash of traditional material on the E.P, the band were catalysted on the local scene in West Yorkshire gaining a quick reputation for high energy sets which involved the crowd well.

Soon after the band released a full 11 track album ‘Tales From the West Riding’ (2009) containing more songs observing modern life in all it’s untold truth and beauty.
This propelled the band onto a new level, doing gigs far and near from punk rock gigs in Glasgow to Somerset folk festivals and an appearance at The Pogues Aftershow party in Brixton in 2009.

2009 also saw the band release an unreleased track ‘Take Me Up To Monto’ for Geek Pie Records compilation ‘Future Relics’ which gained the band acclaim with great reviews.

Three Sheets T’ Wind have gone from strength to strength after the new decade with the new line-up and new lease of life they have now, with bookings again at Somerset’s Burnham on Sea Folkfest, billed with Show of Hands, Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs etc, Ingleton Folkfestival (previous guests include Cara Dillon) and a confirmation for Galtres Festival in North Yorkshire billed alongside The Levellers, The Men They Couldn’t Hang, Chris Helme etc.

Since their last official release in 2009, the band have a strong catalogue of original material to be released for their upcoming E.P which is due to be released in early 2012 and an album in early 2013.

When asked by an audience member at a recent festival after the show ‘That performance was excellent, it was very tight!’ the drummer Lunatic Liam could only reply ‘Of course we’re tight, we’re from Yorkshire!’
The band havn’t lost any humour, any ideals and wish to continue creating Punk influenced Folk music or Folk influenced Punk music….Does it really matter now what you call it, it’s just music ain’t it?

Acts we have been billed and performed alongside with to date:

Shane MacGowan, The Levellers, The Men They Couldn’t Hang, Chris Helme, British Sea Power, Show of Hands, The Charlatans, 3 Daft Monkeys, The Roughneck Riot, John Otway, Kenelis, Uiscedwr and many more…

BBC Radio Alan Raw: ”Great band, great sound, they sound like The Dubliners”

Celtic Folk Punk: ”Reviews of their previous recordings and/or live shows used to make comparisons with The Pogues. IMHO, Three Sheets t’Wind are rooted on the 80’s-90’s Celtic punk/folk punk scene. I mean that their inspiration could be found on different bands from that era, but, at the same time, their sound is really updated to the second decade of the 21st century.”
