Irish Moutarde is a fairly new Celtic punk band from Quebec City, Canada. And after their debut single, "The Bear and the Maiden Fair," it looks as if they’re trying to steal my own heart by combining two of my favorite things. Game of Thrones, and Irish Punk. Their debut single is a cover of a song in the George R. R. Martin series, A Game Of Thrones. The song was featured in the books A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and Feast for Crows. The Bear and the Maiden Fair is a humorous tale about a hairy bear that goes to a local fair with three human companions and a goat to rescue a maiden.
They did manage to add their own twist to the lyrics that’s backed by awesome instrumentals. Who knows, maybe this will set a trend and we will start seeing traditional covers of Tolkien songs. A geek like me can only hope. The song is available free for download on the website here http://www.irishmoutarde.com/bear.zip and below you can check out the list of some upcoming shows they have throughout 2012.
