Dicey Riley Biography:
Hailing from Massachusetts, the most proudly Irish state in America, Dicey Riley rocks their original Celtic music and fired-up traditional tunes with a wild front man, a hot female fiddler, a kilted bagpiper and a full rhythm section. No matter the setting, Dicey Riley assures a good time will be had by all!
Dicey’s music inspires and entertains, from rollicking Irish pub songs to energetic traditional tunes and well-chosen covers, all with a hard-charging Celtic twist. Whether they’re playing to festival crowds outdoors or intimate club audiences, people invariably dance, clap and sing along with passion whenever Dicey Riley hits the stage.
The band is visually exciting, as lead singer John McLaughlin whips fans into a Celtic frenzy with his unique, powerful style. Skilled Highland bagpiper Frank Toscanini and blazing fiddle player Katherine First add the authentic Hibernian sound to the drive of drummer Jeff “Shameless” O’Hinrichs, bassist Jimmy Gibbs and Tim O’Brien on guitar.
For more than ten years, Dicey Riley has created countless smiles and set toes tapping in venues ranging from packed Irish pubs to large arenas. They’ve shined at major Celtic festivals including Harpoon Brewery’s St. Patrick’s Festival and Hartford’s annual Pipes in the Valley Festival. Dicey has shared the stage with major international Celtic acts such as The Saw Doctors, Black 47, the Red Hot Chili Pipers, Screaming Orphans and the Tossers.
Dicey Riley’s rousing music keeps everyone in high spirits, and the band has been commissioned for performances by breweries and distillers such as the Harpoon Brewery, Olde Burnside Brewing, Guinness, Dewar’s and the Paper City Brewery. In 2006 Olde Burnside produced and distributed Dicey’s Ten Penny Ale CD as part of a major promotional campaign. The disc was also named a Top 10 Western New England CD by the Springfield Republican Newspaper.
